Power Efficiency & MEUC deliver definitive guide to energy purchasing at UK’s leading energy event
Posted: July 01, 2011
Workbook provides overview of energy markets, identifies the key issues facing UK companies today and outlines the solutions available.
London - UK, 5 July 2011 - Power Efficiency, the energy procurement and carbon strategy consultancy, is working in association with the Major Energy Users’ Council (MEUC) to publish a detailed workbook addressing the Principles and Practice of Gas and Electricity Purchasing, and it will be launched at The Energy Event 11 in September.
The workbook, which has been co-authored by Mark Callaway, Energy Markets Director at Power Efficiency, a Balfour Beatty company, and Robin Welsby, Commodity Manager Energy and Utilities Europe at Celanese International, focuses on the impact of the recent rise in energy prices and how this has turned the spotlight onto improved mechanisms for purchasing gas and electricity. It also looks at the likely impact of the Government’s energy policies, not just in terms of costs, but also complexity, and aims to help companies understand the markets and identify the practical approaches they can take to managing their energy contracts thereby minimising their exposure to further cost increases.
The content and key messages of the book will be complemented by a series of training days run by the MEUC in London, Warwick and Manchester in early October. These days will form part of the MEUC's established Training Academy for industrial, commercial and public sector energy users."
Mark Callaway said: "The Energy Event will provide an ideal forum for the launch of the workbook, dedicated, as it is, to energy procurement, management and efficiency. We cover a wide range of topics in the book, and expand on some of the most complex issues, but always in order to provide the reader with a better understanding. This should be of significant interest to many visitors to The Energy Event, who will be keen to identify the best energy purchasing strategy to put in place for their own organisation."
Andrew Buckley, MEUC's Director General, adds: "I am delighted that the authors have completed the book at such an important time - with the publication of the government's White Paper on Electricity Market Reform. Their insights and knowledge should prove of even greater value given the challenges which lie ahead as we move to a low carbon future."
The Gas and Electricity Purchasing Principles and Practice workbook will be available at The Energy Event and will feature on the Power Efficiency stand no 2920.
